The New Quorum (TNQ) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We rely on donors, government, and foundation support to bring artists from across the world to New Orleans. Our mission is provide residencies for talented musicians and writers and immerse them in the culture of New Orleans, providing these artists with life-changing experiences and converting them into global ambassadors for New Orleans music and culture. But it is our city’s own artists who benefit the most from TNQ’s residencies, as they discover musical inspiration, new creative collaborators, and enhanced career opportunities through their participation in the program. Many local musicians will serve as paid Collaborative Artists and Master Musicians at TNQ.

The ultimate purpose of TNQ is to provide the setting and resources needed to help local, national and International musicians (and writers) flourish artistically and thrive in the one-of-a-kind city we call home. New Orleans’ economic health, cultural prosperity, and status as a worldwide center for the arts are tied to the continued prosperity of the city’s artists. There is no New Orleans without them, yet we are in constant danger of losing our musicians to other cities with more robust local economies. Beginning with artist residencies and moving into a planned future of direct career support for New Orleans based musicians/writers — including free artist workshops in topics like public relations, financial literacy, and career management, and through an artist exchange program with residency organizations in Europe — TNQ seeks to address the varied needs of working artists in New Orleans.

Are you interested in being an intern or volunteering your time?
No organization, public, private, non-profit or for-profit, can be successful without the generous time and effort of volunteers and interns. The future of The New Quorum depends on people like you for its continued growth and success.
Whether you are looking to meet new people, develop skills, or fulfill a need in your community, The New Quorum has a place for you. Working with The New Quorum is a great opportunity to be involved in a growing cultural institution — and to see live music and fantastic films, eat delicious food, and meet interesting/creative people.
It's important that we know exactly what Volunteers want from their experience and to look for ways to satisfy that. All volunteers receive formal training explaining the work of The New Quorum’s mission and your place in it. We will need volunteers for monthly salons and interns to work with applicant submissions and other areas. Volunteers can help out at as many or as few salons as they choose.
