We love all parties. The New Quorum is available to rent for a variety of special events with discounted rates applied to local and national non-profits.
Our facility can board groups up to 12, with six double beds, and we can arrange further lodging with discounts at nearby locations for events with larger numbers. The New Quorum has hosted parties of up to 150 and has also been an intimate home for retreats of creative collaborative groups of five members.
Whether it is a pastoral retreat, party, or working vacation, our majestic Esplanade Avenue location dazzling location is an idyllic location. Some of the features of our facility include:

Originally built in 1911, the property is located in the Esplanade Ridge National Historic District and is conveniently located mid-way between the French Quarter and City Park. Once part of the Dunbar Plantation, the property embodies elegant New Orleans architecture with fifteen-foot ceilings, pocket doors, and detailed medallions. Esplanade Avenue was once the grand avenue for wealthy French residents in the 18th and 19th centuries including the extended family of Edgar Degas. Evoking a time of New Orleans history that is long gone, this historic property is complemented with period furnishings, lovely gardens, patio and a beautiful porch view of Esplanade Avenue. Bayou St. John and New Orleans City Park are less than a mile away for walking trails, kayaking, and biking. Whatever your needs, we can make your event inspiring and refreshing. The property is conducive to cocktail parties between 20 and 200 guests. The parlor, located on the main floor, calls to mind a classic New Orleans library with old bones paired with modern design elements. For larger cocktail parties, additional spaces or the entire house can be utilized. The back gardens can accommodate a dance floor and auditorium seating.
The dining room seats 10-12 guests, and is inviting, romantic, and warm. We pride ourselves on the regional fare produced by our kitchen. At the same time, our goal is provide our guests an opportunity to experience the joys of the table and share a meal with their guests in an intimate, convivial way.
WEDDING CELEBRATIONS AND RECEPTIONS
Weddings at The New Quorum are intimate gatherings, with family and friends assembled together in a beautiful setting to celebrate your special day. It is important to us that your event be a distinct reflection of you; therefore, we work to custom tailor our services to your unique needs. Our focus is on allowing you, your family, and your guests to relax and truly savor the occasion. In order to help you plan a memorable and stress-free event, we supply the historical backdrop, seasonally inspired cuisine, and skilled service so that you can fully enjoy the festivities.
We want you and your guests to enjoy the property as if it were your own home. Upstairs bedrooms not used for overnight guests may also be used for wedding party changing rooms. We will collaborate closely with you to execute your vision, so that each element of your party is personalized, from the food to the beverages to the music. The New Quorum is the perfect wedding venue for up to 125 guests in the garden, and offers customizable options from seating to menus, flowers to favors, and music to photographers. We encourage you to treat our property as your own home. The front porch can be used for receiving guests with the main parlor and dining room used for the ceremony and/or cocktails. If weather allows, the ceremony, cocktails, and/or dinner and dancing can be accommodated in the back garden.
With a fully functional/equipped kitchen, we can provide breakfast and lunch for staff retreats and/or conferences. The dining room table comfortably seats 10-12 guests and may be used for a variety of planning sessions. An upstairs location is ideal for breakout sessions.
We periodically schedule cooking classes and offer private cooking classes by request. We collaborate with our guests to create the ideal two-and-a-half-hour class curriculum. Private classes include wine or cocktails and snacks, engaging instruction, and a delicious meal, created by you, finessed by your instructor.
Past courses include Gumbo 101 and a half-day class on Roux: The Foundation of Creole Cooking. All our classes will give you an exciting introduction to the basics of New Orleans cooking and leave you confident to recreate some of New Orleans’ most treasured dishes when you return home. It is the perfect compliment to a short stay and will leave you feeling you’ve seen and tasted the authentic New Orleans.
We offer a hands-on class for up to 8 guests, or can accommodate up to 12 guests for a cooking demonstration or private kitchen dinner. Private cooking classes are the perfect way to celebrate the culinary lovers in your life and they are available just about any day of the week. Classes are ideal for birthdays, anniversaries, business entertaining, couples cooking classes, girlfriend getaways, and other special occasions.
At The New Quorum, we take seriously the responsibility of preserving and protecting the local identity of New Orleans food traditions while exploring international influences. We believe 'we are what we eat' and are dedicated to the pleasures of good, well-prepared, and well-presented food. We support local farmers, purveyors, and fishermen. We believe that having a delicious and informative food program is at the core of the joy and appreciation of New Orleans culture.
A tenth-generation New Orleanian, Founder Gianna Chachere is passionate about food and passing her skills on to home cooks. A private chef and caterer, she has also created two cooking programs for children — Sprout and Skillet in Los Angeles and WingSpan Arts in New York City. She is a Master’s-degree student in Food Studies at NYU and attended classes at the Peter Kump Cooking School and Gourmandise Cooking Program.
